An engineered vent and beef with architects

An architect named Norman Foster is receiving all the credit for the design of Millau Viaduct, a beautiful new bridge in Southern France. He, apparently, is not shying away from the spotlight and is denying that the design team consisted of a brilliant structural engineer (Michel Virlogeux) and the engineering groups Arcadis, Greisch, and Thales. Also, the two contractors that actually built the bridge employ many highly skilled engineers.

Why is Virlogeux not getting credit for the design? After all, he is the designer and Foster is the architect. Architects (usually) use their artistic creativity to give suggestions to the engineers concerning the engineering solutions and on the aesthetics as to how the structure will fit with the landscape.

This beautiful bridge is the result of a team effort, not one pompous architect as the accolades suggest. Why do architects gotta playa hate?
