Laughed in a quiet crowded room when a pen and a paper were placed before me. The document's title was "Code of Ethics" and followed the "Code of Ethics" video and the "Red Light: Sexual Harassment in the Workplace" video. The disruptive, uncomfortable laugh did not come from a memory of being falsely accused as a cheat in college. Thats more of a healthy laugh that did not occur to me at all today. Do you know that type of laugh when you recall a horrible moment of your past that really had little effect on you? That, it sucked, but I survived, and I'm stronger for it laugh... an "I WON", triumphant and confident laugh. My first laugh at the first day of work sounded nothing like the triumphant "I WON" laugh.
Mine was a throaty and insecure laugh. That insecure type laugh, was also not the result of hallucinated fantasies in my head of a twist on the sexual harassment video, staring Janet Jamison instead of some government actress. That fantasied 13 year old giggle did occur but only I could hear it.
The laugh that distracted everyone was actually a result of the printed signatures of George W and Dick on the bottom of the "Code of Ethics" form. Welcome to the government Jonny!
